Our Horses

Westphalian Warmbloods

The Westphalian Warmblood is one of Germany's most respected sport horse breeds, renowned for its athleticism, trainability, and versatile performance across multiple disciplines. Developed through the prestigious Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch e.V. (Westphalian Studbook), the breed combines powerful movement, balanced conformation, and an exceptional work ethic.

Highly sought after for dressage, eventing, hunter/jumper, and equitation, Westphalians are known for their expressive gaits, scope over fences, and willing temperament. Their intelligence and rideability make them suitable for both ambitious amateurs and professional competitors, while their soundness and versatility allow them to excel in a wide range of equestrian pursuits.

At Windhorse Farm, our Westphalian breeding program emphasizes correct conformation, athletic ability, strong minds, and partnership-oriented temperaments. By combining proven European bloodlines with thoughtful management and handling, we strive to produce horses capable of succeeding in sport while remaining dependable and enjoyable companions for their riders.

Our Stallion

Raleigh WHF

Raleigh WHF is a 2020 black Westphalian stallion whose pedigree combines elite European sport horse genetics with generations of proven performance and exceptional temperament. He is sired by Rubinero, one of the leading hunter sires in the United States and a son of the legendary Rubinstein I. Rubinero's dam, Ex Libris, was out of a daughter of the influential Furioso II, bringing together two of the most important and respected sport horse bloodlines in modern warmblood breeding.

His dam, Royale Pal, is by Loyal Pal, the imported Irish Thoroughbred by the immortal Caro, owned by Olympic event rider Denny Emerson. Raleigh's maternal line descends from the elite hunter mare Racinia Royale, by Renoir I, a family noted for producing athleticism, elegance, jumping ability, and outstanding rideability.

Bred for sport and partnership, “Rudi” possesses the qualities that have made the Westphalian one of the world's most admired warmblood breeds. He combines expressive movement, balanced conformation, and natural athletic ability with a gentle, intelligent, and willing disposition. Thoughtful, kind, and eager to connect with people, he exemplifies the temperament we strive to preserve and promote in our breeding program.

For us, Raleigh WHF is the embodiment of the Westphalian horse: athletic without excess, powerful without losing elegance, and gifted with the sound mind and generous character that create true partners both in the show ring and at home. He represents generations of carefully selected bloodlines dedicated to producing horses capable of excelling in sport while remaining dependable, trainable, and deeply rewarding companions.
